Route and application
Name the competition and stream. Save the current terms, closing information and official application link. Check age, education and other conditions against the correct date and route. Mark anything unclear for an official query.
Prepare the required documents in the requested form and at the required stage. Keep your contact details accurate and save submission confirmations. Do not put identity or medical documents into PSP practice answers.
- Exact route and stream recorded.
- Current terms and application status checked.
- Required evidence located or queried.
- Email, contact details and correspondence checked.
Mental preparation
If your route requires aptitude, understand the relevant formats and complete original practice. For each mistake, record the step you need to improve. Distinguish coached learning, fresh attempts and deliberate review.
Follow your actual invitation for sections, timing and permitted aids. A PSP practice score does not establish a live pass mark, and familiarisation with five categories does not mean every applicant receives all five.
Interview and group work
Build genuine examples for the competencies named for your route. Check that each contains your actions, reasons, outcome and learning. Practise follow-ups and revise unclear evidence without adding invented detail.
For a cadet group stage, practise understanding constraints and helping a team decide. Prepare informed questions for a realistic job preview. Do not confuse dominating a conversation with demonstrating responsibility.
Physical and assessment-day preparation
Read the official physical standards and guidance. Use qualified help to plan training for your current ability, including technique and recovery. Keep medical suitability separate from a personal training result.
Check each invitation for travel, reporting time, equipment, documents and the official contact for problems. Mark completed tasks honestly. A checklist helps you organise preparation; the Defence Forces decides whether the selection conditions are met.
Questions about this stage
Does a completed checklist mean I am ready to pass?
No. It records preparation tasks and cannot predict official assessment or medical outcomes.
Should every General Service applicant complete aptitude practice?
Only when relevant to the actual required assessment. Current official pages differ, so follow the competition and invitation.
